There are so many programmes and diets out there. How is Beyond Chocolate different?
There is nothing like the our Online Course available in the UK. Most programmes offer a ‘one-size fits all’ approach and even those programmes that say they are not diets ultimately offer a diet-like set of rules or guidelines which essentially expect you to change your life (hence the term life style change) from one day to the next. The Psychology of Weight Loss is completely different. You do not need to change yourself or your life to fit in with the programme. We won’t be telling you to eat any special foods, or to cut food groups out of your diet, we won’t be inviting you to count or measure or restrict. Our course guides you through a process of understanding your relationship with food, of recognising why you eat the way you do now and provides you with a set of tools and practices that you can bring into your life to completely transform you approach to weight loss. Not only will you understand why you have never been able to lose weight for the long term, you’ll know exactly what to do to have a healthy, balanced relationship with food and your body.
I know you can’t guarantee that this approach will work but can you give me an idea of the likelihood of success and how soon I will see changes?
So many of us have weight loss as our primary goal. We may also want to feel more in control of our eating, less obsessed, less stressed or confused.
We cannot guarantee how much weight you’ll lose or what weight you’ll be when you have put into practice all the Beyond Chocolate principles and tools . You may lose weight, you may put some on and you may stay exactly as you are today. It depends on how much you weigh now. It depends on how much you’ve dieted in the past. It depends on how old you are. It depends on what types of food you eat, your genes, your constitution and so much more.
What we can guarantee you is that by working through the programme, you will have a a healthier, more balanced relationship with food and your body. Online Course will give you freedom, peace of mind, choice and power. We know that the women who have come on our workshops and followed our online courses say that for the first time in their lives they feel normal, they don’t constantly worry about food and their weight and they start to enjoy food and life again in a way they didn’t think was possible.
How quickly you feel the difference is very individual. The more you take action and use the tools we offer you, the sooner you will feel the benefits. When we start a new diet we often feel enthusiastic and motivated. We start to lose weight and that spurs us on and keeps us going. And the longer we deprive ourselves and stay on the diet, the harder it gets. When we get to our goal weight we often find we just can’t keep restricting ourselves and we start to give in and relax and often yo-yo right back to where we started. With our online course the process is completely the opposite. To start with progress may feel slow and effortful. Weight loss may come steadily but it’s more likely that it will be slower and less steady and regular than on a diet. It takes time, willingness and action to reach a real understating and to start making changes. Dieting and lifestyle changes get harder and harder the more you do them, the beauty of the course is that it just gets easier and easier the more you practice. Eventually it just becomes a way of eating that feels completely natural and when you look back you won’t believe how much you’ve changed!
Is your online course for women only?
Yes. Most women have told us that they feel more comfortable talking about their relationship with food and their body in a women-only environment – both on and offline. This is why our workshops and forums are dedicated to women only. That is not to say that the ideas and tools we suggest are not applicable to men, they most definitely are. If your partner, dad, son, male friend or anyone else is interested in starting the course for themselves, please ask them to get in touch.
Am I too young or too old to benefit from the course?
It’s never too early or too late to change the way you approach weight loss. Our programme works well for women of all ages and programme participants have ranged from 18 to 70 years old. In fact, our experience shows that a wide range of ages is an advantage in both our workshops and online groups.
I have to follow an exclusion/special diet for health reasons, can this programme work for me?
The Beyond Chocolate approach is not a diet – there are no meal plans or menus and we don’t tell you which foods you can and can’t eat. The programme works whatever your dietary needs and preferences. We will support you to finding a solution that works for you and that takes into account your health and safety.
What kind of women use the online course?
All sorts of women come on on our workshops and take part in our online courses, from all corners of the UK and around the world. Our participants have included barristers, sales assistants, doctors, accountants, students, teachers, business owners, women whose job is to bring up their children, vets, nurses, admin assistants, writers, personal trainers, nutritionists, journalists, writers, nannies, entrepreneurs… we could go on. Some women consider themselves very overweight and some don’t want to lose weight but want to regain a balance in their relationship with food and the way they feel about their bodies. Many women who follow our programme think they are hopeless cases (although we don’t believe that anyone is a hopeless case). By the time they find us many women are so desperate, after years of dieting and trying to find a way that works for them, they may well think that nothing will ever work. For many women this feels like a last chance, their last hope… So whoever you are, you are very welcome and you will fit in fine. If you are fed up of dieting and overeating, if you’ve given up hope of ever finding a way to just eat when you’re hungry and get on with your life – our approach IS DEFINITELY for you.
I came to workshops/did an online course with Beyond Chocolate some years ago. Do I have to do the full online course before I do an Advanced Seminar?
Short answer is probably not. If you’ve been practicing the tools and principles for a while and feel confident that you know the basics you can apply to attend an Advanced Seminar. We welcome Beyond Chocolaters of all generations!
